Talvin Singh has been hugely influential in introducing classical tabla into the world of contemporary music. His debut album as a composer and producer, OK, received huge critical acclaim and won the 1999 Mercury Music Prize and the South Bank Prize for Popular Music.

Singh has a history of collaboration with a diverse range of musicians including Björk, Sun Ra, Terry Riley and Yoko Ono. For this performance he brings together prodigious beat boxer Jason Singh with Shriram Sampath on flute, Preetha Narayanan on violin and Francesca Ter Berg on cello.

Talvin Singh will be supported by BBC Introducing artists Fran & Flora have been hailed as “fiercely passionate” by BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction DJ Max Reinhardt. Captivating their audiences with soulful laments, exquisite songs, irresistible dance tunes, and tales of their musical adventures, Fran & Flora….

This new collaboration between violinist Flora Curzon and folk/experimental cellist Francesca Ter-Berg combines aspects of traditional string music and song from Eastern Europe with original compositions and improvisation. Having travelled across Europe and North America to study with many great masters of Eastern European Roma and Klezmer music Fran & Flora perform this repertoire incorporating their own unique arrangements creating a sound that is both timeless and contemporary.

Over the past Fran & Flora’s long awaited debut album is due for release in November 2019.
